The Provo Metro Area is home to about seven hundred and seventy thousand people. Most do not know Christ. Fewer than four in a thousand identify as evangelical believers. That is the mission field in front of us.
Missiologists call a people unreached when fewer than two percent are evangelical. Our metro area fits that definition. The need is not far away. It is here.
Provo and Orem are spiritually dry. Many neighbors are LDS. Others have stepped away from faith altogether. Churches that preach Christ clearly and gather people into real discipleship are rare. So we preach. We gather. We disciple. We stay. We ask God to save people and build a faithful church in this place.
If the Lord has given you means, partner with us. Monthly gifts fuel steady, local ministry.
Our Mission in Provo
God placed us in the Provo Metro Area to plant and strengthen a lasting gospel witness. Our aim is simple: preach Christ, gather His people, and disciple believers who carry the gospel into everyday life.
The Lord’s Day Gathering
Every Sunday we gather to worship, hear the Word, pray, and share the Lord’s Supper. This is the heartbeat of the work. Christ feeds His people and sends us back into the valley with hope and courage.
Weekly Fellowship Lunch
Right after the service we share a fellowship lunch every week. It is simple, warm, and fruitful. Guests meet our people. Members welcome seekers. Conversations begin at the table and often grow into Bible studies and friendship.
Discipleship in Homes
We open our homes and our lives. We meet regularly outside of Sunday for Scripture, prayer, and care. Believers are strengthened. Burdens are shared. New Christians learn to follow Jesus in ordinary life.
Witness in Everyday Places
Members carry the gospel into homes, campuses, workplaces, neighborhoods, and the streets. We want steady, humble courage. We want a church that scatters with the good news each week.
Do you see the vision?
We believe this is the biblical vision. The locus of all mission is the local church. The local church is God’s appointed means of penetrating the darkness of the world with His everlasting light. The most impactful and healthy mission is focused on the local church.
Missionary Bio
Brendon was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. Jesus saved him as a teenager during a summer camp with his church. Soon after, God began to place in his heart a desire to preach the gospel and to shepherd God’s people.
After graduating from Amarillo High School, Brendon moved to Louisville, Kentucky to attend Boyce College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Biblical and Theological Studies. During that time he met his wife, Julie, while serving together at a summer camp in North Carolina. He later earned an Advanced Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. During seminary he participated in a pastoral apprenticeship at Immanuel Baptist Church and worked as a manager for The North Face.
When Brendon finished seminary, the Lord called the Scoggins to Canyon, Texas, where he served as Student Pastor at First Baptist Canyon. During those years the Lord opened a ministry partnership with First Baptist Church of Provo, Utah. Through that partnership, God made it clear that He was calling the Scoggin family to Provo. In April 2021, Brendon became the Pastor of Preaching and Vision at First Baptist Church of Provo. The Scoggin family raised missionary support and moved to Utah in September 2021, where they continue to serve today.
Brendon and Julie have been joyfully married for thirteen years and are thankful for the children God has blessed them with: Adelyn, Annie, Ella, Owen, and Arlo. Their home is often filled with conversation, laughter, and discipleship around the table. They love Provo and are committed to seeing the gospel take deep root in this city through the ordinary, faithful work of the local church.
